Introduction:
You need to talk to someone if you want to get to know them. We all know that… In todays culture face to face conversations are being replaced by social media, by virtual chats, even churches are online communities with no need to actually gather together. We have email, facebook, texts, snapchat, twitter, WhatsApp, instagram…
You no longer need to tell someone what you have been up to you can see and read it from what you had for lunch, to that weird growth on your big toe. The art of conversation has been lost, seen as archaic, out dated, so last year.
In the same way prayer seems to be a thing of the past, its not on trend, but outdated, archaic - something left for a few highly religious people. And for the few of us who do pray, we are not sure how to pray, so prayer becomes a list of requests, something we do before bed to park all our concerns and worries, as well as our hopes and dreams. A one sided wish list being sent out to an omnipresent father Christmas. Or its a confession list of things we have done wrong, letting God know - as if the omniscient one doesn't already know everything, but in some way it makes us feel better. But what if prayer was meant to be more than that, something more exciting, more vibrant, more real and authentic, something that would enable us to actually have a relationship with the eternal omnipotent, all powerful God.
Key Verse:
Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Matthew 6v9-13).
Some Thoughts:
How can we make prayer more about relationship than confession or request? How would that change our view on prayer and ultimately our prayer life?

Being a Christian isn’t always easy… If we truly want to live for Christ - it costs, we need perseverance, we need to be willing to let go of our life, and as Jesus said - we need to loose our life, if we want to truly find his. I have been asking myself - What Kind of Christians is the church producing today? Are we anything like the picture God had in mind? We want to portray the true gospel, and see real authentic Christians being disciples and looking to make other disciples, who are willing to come and be a living sacrifice and whose delight is Jesus....
