Soul Food - Leviticus 5 - Ignorance isnt bliss

Introduction:

There is a phrase that we often use, that is, ‘ Ignorance is bliss’. We use it to convince ourselves and others that the things we do not know about won’t affect us, so we would prefer not to know. That in some way if we don't know about it, we don't have to worry about it or do anything about it. But is this really true? If you don't know about the train coming along the train track, when it hits you, will it not hurt you? Or if you don't know that your attitude stinks and is hurting the people around you, will it not have any effect on your life?…. Ignorance is only bliss for the short term: but long term it finds you out. I call it the Ostrich syndrome - we bury our heads in the sand, trying to ignore what is going on - before long it comes and bites us on the bum.

Key Verse:

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “If anyone commits a breach of faith and sins unintentionally in any of the holy things of the Lord, he shall bring to the Lord as his compensation, a ram without blemish out of the flock, valued in silver shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for a guilt offering. He shall also make restitution for what he has done amiss in the holy thing and shall add a fifth to it and give it to the priest. And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven. (Leviticus 5 v 14-16).

Some Thoughts:

In what ways do our unintentional sins harm us, others and grieve God? How can we become more aware of them, not out of condemnation, but out of exposing them to the light of Jesus so we walk in freedom? How can we develop a life style of confession, and repentance so daily we grow in Holiness and become more like Jesus?

Strong Foundations - Genesis 29-31 - What kind of Christian?

Being a Christian isn’t always easy… If we truly want to live for Christ - it costs, we need perseverance, we need to be willing to let go of our life, and as Jesus said - we need to loose our life, if we want to truly find his. I have been asking myself - What Kind of Christians is the church producing today? Are we anything like the picture God had in mind? We want to portray the true gospel, and see real authentic Christians being disciples and looking to make other disciples, who are willing to come and be a living sacrifice and whose delight is Jesus....
