There was a famous song released in 1995 and it went something like this;
What if God was one of us, Just a slob like one of us, Just a stranger on the bus. Trying to make His way home? If God had a face, what would it look like? And would you want to see? If seeing meant that you would have to believe In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets?
Ironically God did become one of us and turned up in the dusty towns of Galilee. He had a face, hands, body and legs, he would have sweated, struggled with B.O., got tired, and had relationship struggles. He worked in his dads business as a carpenter, and went with his family to church each week. He had friends, as well as enemies. He knew what it was to be homeless and homed, loved and hated. He had times when he was full of faith and hope, as well as times surrounded by fear. If Jesus… looks at the life of Jesus in all its rawness and reality and asks the question; if Jesus was one of us, what would his life look like today.
Jesus life modelled discipleship, and so it is from his life that we learn how to really live…
And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27And the men marvelled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” (Matthew 8v26-27).
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise (John 5v19).
What can we learn from Jesus? What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? What does it mean to only do what the father tells us? In what ways can we apply these truths on a daily basis?

Being a Christian isn’t always easy… If we truly want to live for Christ - it costs, we need perseverance, we need to be willing to let go of our life, and as Jesus said - we need to loose our life, if we want to truly find his. I have been asking myself - What Kind of Christians is the church producing today? Are we anything like the picture God had in mind? We want to portray the true gospel, and see real authentic Christians being disciples and looking to make other disciples, who are willing to come and be a living sacrifice and whose delight is Jesus....
