What Goes On
We have a number of regular activities that go on each week and during the year. These are designed to engage with our community, build relationships and reveal Jesus to everyone:
Weekends Away: At least once a year, we book either a week or a weekend away for the church to socialise and do life together. We often play games, eat good food and sit around chatting until late into the night. We also laugh a lot! We also go away for an annual conference weekend together.
Street Connections: Teams of people go on the street treasure hunting or looking for people to pray for as the Holy Spirit leads.
CAP Debt Centre: We support the local CAP centre, and we are really excited about how this project shares the love of Jesus with people in this practical way. We also run CAP money Courses and Life Skills.
Food Bank: As a church we link with HITS and other churches to provide food parcels for those in need.
Men’s Shed: A place of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men come together to work. We are in the process of setting this up
Pow Wow: Our community café is open Monday to Friday for people to drop in to have a drink, something to eat and chat with friends. There is a small shop facility, Paypoint, a soft play area for children 0-6 and free WiFi. PowWow is located on Kingsway, Teignmouth. A variety of both church and community groups also now make use of this wonderful facility.
Riviera Tea rooms and Cinema/Theatre: In 2016 we took on the Riviera building, Teignmouth which houses a cinema/theatre and restaurant. We have been working hard to bring this back up to its former glory. The auditorium is being used for various events, and eventualy a cinema, and the restaurant is open 6 days a week (Monday-Saturday). We hope this facility will be an arts hub that will be a place for the community to use, but for the church to also reach out with the love of Jesus.
Connections: Activities for Men and Ladies—please refer to Connect Groups Page
Church Socials: Each year we organise a number of church socials and activities booked in so that the church can relax, have fun and build relationships. These include barbecues, beach parties, and other seasonal activities. We also want to shares these times with the community in which we live, and so many of the activities are open to everyone. We believe it is important to have a good balance of work and fun in life.
Church Social Activities
Events and Activities. This year we have a number of church socials and activities booked in so that the Church can relax, have fun and build relationships. We also want to share these times with the community in which we live, and so, many of the activities are open to everyone. We believe it is important to have a good balance of work and fun in life.
Sunday Prayer. We believe in the power of prayer, and that, in the words of Spurgeon, it is the powerhouse of the church. For this reason there is a prayer meeting 10am every Sunday before the service.
Power House Prayer. We are told that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the cosmic and spiritual forces of evil. So prayer is something we encourage across the church from our connect groups each week, to coorporate times of prayers which are aranged at various times of the year.
