The past often causes us a problem. Many people say that we are the products of our past. The person who never new their dad may find it hard to relate to a father who loves.

Those who have been abused have often put up many defence mechanisms to prevent people in and allowing themselves from being hurt. The pressure to achieve at work or at school; you must get these grades, you need this job, creates fear mechanisms that can rule our lives. Its like the bird who has been kept in a cage all its life, when the door is open it stays there because it is safe, he has never learned to fly. Both good and bad our past can shape our future, can define us, can confine us, the past can be a blessing but also a problem!
