Paul Scott spoke to us from Acts 6. His talk was called 'Equipped to Serve' and he referred to the growing number of disciples who needed to do more menial tasks as well as preaching and teaching. The Twelve gathered them all together and selected seven men who were full of the holy spirit and His wisdom to serve the people while the rest continued with their preaching work. As the story unfolded, we saw that, even when God allocates what we regard as an easy or menial task, he still uses us in so many other ways. God wants us to have a right heart, a right attitude and the right gifts to serve Him. A visitor who came a few weeks ago sent us a prophetic words which we believe God is encouraging us with. Spend some time reading the below and looking at the key verse:
We visited Mars Hill whilst on holiday today. It was encouraging to hear the tougher parts of suffering being preached on - the parts that are so often missed out in the 'bless me' culture that can be so prevalent!
Having read the media stories about the church building and the church's vision, then being there ourselves today, Ezekiel 37 wouldn't go away.

As I was preparing for this Sunday, reading Acts 18, as well as some commentaries, I began to think about what message I could bring? I read how the gospel spreads to Corinth not just through human wisdom and might, but by the power of the holy spirit. I read about the faithful followers of Jesus, both men and woman, like Pricilla and Aquilla, who were instrumental in telling and teaching people about Jesus and a new way to live. I read how hard they worked, both for the church but also in their business (Paul a tent maker), to earn money for their families. How they were motivated by Jesus, how they had vision and direction, how many people got saved healed and...

Introduction:Have you ever bit into an apple and realised its rotten? It looks good on the outside but once you get in, you realise its full of decay – it’s just plain nasty. This is what Jesus is getting at as he starts to bring his mountain message to a close. Jesus is asking us not to judge but to discern people by their fruit: not by what they say or do, but by discerning whether Jesus is at the centre. The Bible tells us that in these last days, false prophets will arise to even deceive the elect, so how can we know if something or someone truly is from God?

We believe the holy spirit is saying this is going to be a significant year - all the promises that God has spoken to us about are going to start to materialise - radical love, sharpening, deepening as we hunger after Jesus. Promises and words that God has spoken over us. There is going to be a move of His spirit, and we need to catch it. There is going to be a rumbling of his presence and we are meant to be the epicentre. People who were once hard, hearts will crumble and soften. Territory that was out of reach, we will take over - new ground, new territories. Introduction
Michael Jackson in his song; Man in the Mirror, recognises that he has become the victim of a selfish kind of love, but now he realises that there is more to life than himself. So he is going to look at the man in the mirror, and make the change… The bible encourages us to do the same.
James 1:23 talks about someone looking in a mirror then forgetting what they look like.
This is all too common; the holy spirit illuminates something in our lives, we see it, we are impacted by it, but we then walk away and forget to do anything about it. Walking by the spirit is a conscious decision on a daily bases, until it becomes who we are.
