Have you ever been let down by someone? Has someone really close to you; spouse, parent, best friend ever let you down? Those ones are often the worse. The truth is people are fallible, people make mistakes, people let us down, we let each other down, but God never does. He never forgets to turn up to an appointment, he never breaks on a promise, he never leaves us without, he never gives up on us, even when we continually let him down, forget him, break our promises. Last week we looked at the importance of Holiness. Which has nothing to do with being a goody too shoes, but everything to do with being in Relationship with a God who is Holy, distinct, perfect, and yet meets us where we are and makes us holy, healed, forgiven and made whole. We saw how the Christians scattered after Stephens death, and some ended up in Antioch, an important and strategic City. The third most important city after Rome and Alexandria. Over the month of May we have been encourgaing eah other to be naturally supernaturally and so for our church weekend, teams went out onto the streets of Buckfastleigh and the Abbey to look for people to pray for and speak to. Many people came back praying for various illnesses, including a tuma, someone recovering from a heart attack, and people that were lonely. Many of the people prayed for were visibly inmpacted by the love of Jesus as they felt God touch their lives and even bring them to tears. What was supper exciting was how the children took part in this too.

We believe the Holy spirit is saying this is going to be a significant year - all the promises that God has spoken to us about are going to start to materialise - radical love, sharpening, deepening as we hunger after Jesus. Promises and words that God has spoken over us. There is going to be a move of His Spirit, and we need to catch it. There is going to be a rumbling of his presence and we are meant to be the epicentre. People who were once hard, hearts will crumble and soften. Territory that was out of reach, we will take over - new ground, new territories. We often look for the living among the dead. For life in dead places. We look to the world for answers, yet the world’s answers often produce only shadows of life and ultimately death in the end. We think the answer will be in a Relationship, in a job, in a grade, the next purchase, or holiday…
But these are only shadows of life. Life, real life can only come from and through Jesus.

Today we finished our trilogy by looking at the baptism of the Spirit - Is it for today, for everyone, a subsequent event or at conversion? Two weeks ago we saw the importance of repentance to restore intimacy - Relationship with God.
