How are you showing friendship to everyone, but developing just few close friends? Is Jesus one of your closest friends and how are you developing a relationship with him? What does it mean to have a friendship the enables us to ask anything of God and he will give it to us?...

...Introduction:Have you ever bit into an apple and realised its rotten? It looks good on the outside but once you get in, you realise its full of decay – it’s just plain nasty. This is what Jesus is getting at as he starts to bring his mountain message to a close. Jesus is asking us not to judge but to discern people by their fruit: not by what they say or do, but by discerning whether Jesus is at the centre. The Bible tells us that in these last days, false prophets will arise to even deceive the elect, so how can we know if something or someone truly is from God?

To look like Jesus costs - not Just a little but a lot. To be a follower of Jesus, a disciple of Jesus, means giving up everything - our lives becoming living sacrifices, offerings poured out on the alter of worship to God.
Israel understood this when they were given the instructions of how do deal with the grain, fruit and first fruit offerings. The new the importance of salt, honey and leaven, if they wanted to make a new, pure, and costly sacrifice to their God.

...God wants us to die... He wants us to die to ourselves, so that Jesus becomes the focus not us or our preferences. Jesus said unless a grain of what falls to the ground and dies, it cannot bear fruit (John 12v24-26). When Jesus died the enemy thought he had won, it looked like he had lost, it looked like the end. But Jesus death was where he was most victorious, it was his death that brought the most life, it was his death that brought the victory over Satan, sin and death, and so we need to die, so that only Jesus is left.
