Mountain Messages - Pray the Jesus Way

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 24th May 2018 in Religion & Spirituality | prayer, pray,Relationship, identity, love
You need to talk to someone if you want to get to know them. We all know that… In todays culture face to face conversations are being replaced by social media, by virtual chats, even churches are online communities with no need to actually gather together. We have email, facebook, texts, snapchat, twitter, WhatsApp, instagram…You no longer need to tell someone what you have been up to you can see and read it from what you had for lunch, to that weird growth on your big toe. The art of conversation has been lost, seen as archaic, out dated, so last year. In the same way prayer seems to be a thing of the past, its not on trend, but outdated, archaic - somet...

Our Relationship with God

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 1st November 2015 in Exodus | Exodus 20:
In this week’s sermon, Pastor Dave revisited Exodus 20 relating this to the freedom we have in Christ as seen in the New Testament. He said that fear prohibits us from walking in the power God has for us. We forget that He has never let us down - and He won’t start now! The world is constantly driving and pushing us forward to be bigger, better, wealthier, to aim higher. The church has the same mentality: we constantly take on weights and never fully realise all that God has for us. During the worship sense, Pastor Dave saw a picture of a cross on fire. He challenged us: do we understand what God has done for us on the cross, burning away all the rub...

Ask Anything: Sex and Sexuality

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 25th August 2014 in Ask Anything | Ask Anything, questions, sex, sexuality, homosexuality, gay, marriage, masterbation, divorce
No one goes into a Relationship with a perfectly biblical, untainted view of marriage and sex, and sex is one of the areas of our lives which is most affected by sin. Often the problem is we either see sex as our god, or we see it as disgusting. Through Jesus we want to redeem it as a gift!...

Gender Confused - Made in the image of God

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 14th February 2018 in Religion & Spirituality | love, image,Jesus,God,world, identity
We are told we are what we do, what we feel, what we eat… `we are defined by our jobs, sexuality, belief etc. But the bible tells us something different. Everything boils down to identity. Who is God, and who we are in the light of Jesus. We are not our grades, jobs, careers, Relationship or sexuality. But the truth is when we look at these big issues, what is right, wrong, how people feel, what drives, or motivates us, it all comes down to identity....

Sharper Through Covenant

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 9th September 2019 in Religion & Spirituality | Covenant, agreement,Relationship, hope, life, love
Marriage is meant to be a picture of Jesus and his church, picture of a faithful husband who love his wife, and of a faithful wife who lives her shebang bound by covenant which was established in the heart. God has always been this kind of God right from the beginning when he made the first two people Adam and Eve, who covenanted with each other in marriage and then covenanted with God through each other - The Adamic Covenant.  God continues to covenant with his people through His blood....

Leviticus 2 - Salt, Honey and Leaven

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 21st March 2017 in Religion & Spirituality | Salt,Honey,Leaven,Jesus,Covenant,Relationship, offering, sacrifice
To look like Jesus costs - not Just a little but a lot. To be a follower of Jesus, a disciple of Jesus, means giving up everything - our lives becoming living sacrifices, offerings poured out on the alter of worship to God.Israel understood this when they were given the instructions of how do deal with the grain, fruit and first fruit offerings. They new the importance of salt, honey and leaven, if they wanted to make a new, pure, and costly sacrifice to their God....
