A Vision To Be - A servant of Christ

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 22nd January 2019 in Religion & Spirituality | sacrifice, servant, love, give,Jesus
So we looked at Faith being the foundation of Vision and that this year we need to expect the unexpected. Last week we looked at a vision to be - a living sacrifice, that faith and therefore vision is accessed through sacrifice. This week we are looking at a vision to be - a servant of Christ. As we sacrifice our lives to Jesus and walk by faith the position of of a disciple is servanthood. Now to be a servant we also need to understand that we are also a son, a child of God....

Last week we looked at a vision to be - a living sacrifice, that faith and therefore vision is accessed through sacrifice. This week we are looking at a vision to be - a servant of Christ. As we sacrifice our lives to Jesus and walk by faith the position of of a disciple is servanthood. Now to be a servant we also need to understand that we are also a son, a child of God.   Key Verse:And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercis...

Soul Food - If Jesus... was a friend

Posted by Mars Hill Church on 20th June 2016 in Meditation | soul food,if jesus,if jesus was a friend, meditate, meditation
Introduction Friendship are complicated affairs, often full of extremes where there is fun joy, excitement, or devastation tears and despair. Friendships seem to be important for some people and not for others. Some people love to invest time and energy into people, while others just couldn't care less. Relationships require effort and investment, they need to be two sided and worked at. So what can we learn from Jesus on friendship? Key Verse No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I...

...for your servant hears.” Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. (1 Samuel 3 v10-11).   Some Thoughts: How can you position yourself better to hear God? How can you nurture a closer relationship through reading the bible and prayer, learning to walk daily by the Spirit? What does sacrifice and worship look like for you? Who can you learn from so you live fully in your calling?...

Soul Food - If Jesus... played Pokemon Go

Posted by Mars Hill Church on 25th July 2016 in Blogging | soul food,if jesus, pokemon go
...Introduction There is a huge craze sweeping the digital world and that is Pokemon Go. If you haven't seen it, its a game where you go about looking for characters called Pokemon and try and catch them. You can have all sorts of games and battles, but the big idea is to get people out of their houses and mingling with other people. So If Jesus played Pokemon Go what could we learn from him? Would it be a tool to connect with more people? In Jesus we see how he was able to culturally connect with people without compromise; he brought the reality of the love of God to every area of society.   Key Verse For though I am free from all, I have made myself a...

If Jesus... played Pokémon Go

...myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23).   Some Thoughts How...
