Mars Hill Sea Baptism 2013

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 4th August 2013 in Baptisms | baptism, sea,
It was such a joy yesterday to see three of our folk, Charley Tribble, Courtney Tribble and Jordan Horne being baptised in the sea. What a great witness for Jesus Christ! The service that followed was a real blessing, hearing about how our young people were seeking God in speaking to and praying with people on Wednesday evening during their Youth Connect group. As a church we are embarking on a journey together, where we are learning how to host Gods presence as part of our everyday life.   We want to live from the place of heaven until we see Gods Kingdom come on earth and the supernatural life becomes the norm.  The next set of preaching and teaching over t...

Kingdom Community

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 4th August 2013 in Nehemiah | nehimiah, kingdom, community, old testament
Read Nehemiah 6v15-16. As we learn to host the presence of God, live with the culture of heaven, and step out in the miraculous; Gods Kingdom is built. However, this is not something we do in isolation, but together in community. We see that Nehemiah does not rebuild Jerusalem on his own, but everyone has a part to play, and in the same way God has called his church to build his Kingdom through being in community. Individualism is not an aspect of Gods Kingdom. Individualism kills, community brings life... God longs to bless a people group, he longs to rest his presence on a community rather than just individuals. A key value o...

The Joy of the Lord

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 18th August 2013 in Nehemiah | nehemiah, old testament, joy, Lord
Read Nehemiah 8:10. We all have things that make us happy and, for a while, fill us with joy. However good these things are, they will always fade. The joy of the Lord is an everlasting experience, something that will not fade and because of this it should be our strength to face life. In order to experience this joy, we first need to be filled with the unending love that God offers us.  ...

Acts 3 - As you Are!

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 29th September 2013 in Acts | Acts, New Testament, Christianity, video, Power
Every miracle reverses the power of sin, every life given to Jesus plunders the dungeons of hell. This is the lifestyle we have been called to, this is the normal Christian life. Jesus asks us to come, just as we are, and he will empower us to do the rest. All he is looking for, is willing and yielded vessels, men and women who are willing to step out and step up. Our mission is very simple, introduce people to Jesus, by demonstrating his power and then pointing them to Jesus. A church without power, and a people without presence, is only living a partial gospel. The good news is that the kingdom has come through Jesus, and it continues to come through us....

Acts 6: Equipped to Serve

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 20th October 2013 in Acts | Acts, New Testament, Christianity, video, Stephen
Paul Scott spoke to us from Acts 6. His talk was called 'Equipped to Serve' and he referred to the growing number of disciples who needed to do more menial tasks as well as preaching and teaching. The Twelve gathered them all together and selected seven men who were full of the Holy Spirit and His wisdom to serve the people while the rest continued with their preaching work. As the story unfolded, we saw that, even when God allocates what we regard as an easy or menial task, he still uses us in so many other ways. God wants us to have a right heart, a right attitude and the right gifts to serve Him. Stephen was given a simple task but his life impacted on so man...

No End

Posted by Mars Hill Blog on 29th December 2013 in General Topics | End of year, science, pi, thermodynamics, make all things new
Today was the last Sunday of 2013 and as we looked at the temporal nature of life, we pondered maths, string theory and pi and asked ourselves what has that got to do with life and God?...
