When we think of the word Saint, your mind probably either goes to the TV series, or to old guys that were super good and did kind things to people a bit like St Nick - father Christmas. Yet in the bible it has a totally different view point. Paul uses this word time again to describe Christians; to show the kind of people they now are because of Jesus. Not goody two shoes kind of people, or Holier than thou kind of people, but real people, with real lives. Soul Food - Authentic love 2017
For two years we have had the vision of Radical love; exploring how we can demonstrate Gods overwhelming love to each other and our communities. Linked to this was creativity, and the myriad of ways God has created and gifted us to share this amazing truth. This year God has refined this vision to - Authentic love. This crazy outrageous love of God needs to be real, genuine - authentic. It’s not about us being crazy in what we do to show love, but its about our actions and words coming from an authentic heart
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. (Romans 12v9).
What does Authentic love look like for you? Is this something you find easy or hard. In what ways can you culture more authentic relationships with Jesus and his church? How can this flow out to those who do not know Jesus yet?...
